My Submission for April MATS

Last Day of July!

Omg it's the last day of July! Things are getting really busy for me and I am very excited about all of them. The first thing happening starting tomorrow is the SCBWI summer conference in Los Angeles, which is SOLD OUT! If you don't know, the SCBWI is the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. I do both, professionally. I have illustrated about 18 books now and written a few picture books for a mobile app company I worked for in 2012/2013 called FarFaria. I am currently pitching my early chapter book series entitled Uli Driscoll in Trouble, and will have a dummy at the conference attached to my portfolio. I am currently taking a revision workshop to finally get Ryuan - my then YA, now MG series into better shape. After a few rejections I took a closer look.  https://vimeo.com/ondemand/reviseyournovelinamonth At the conference I am splitting my time between writing workshops and illustrator workshops, I am also in the portfolio showcase-and even t...

Fun in the Sea~New Artwork!

For Make Art That Sells last month we had a nautical theme! Well as you know I love children's art, so that is what I did. Here are my four pieces, which are now available to buy from me as well via my website. http://www.stepholivieri.com/#!prints/c1qno Thanks for swinging by! What would you draw if you had this assignment? I'd love to hear! Cheers and have a super, super, day!

Wednesday MATS A Class!

Hi everyone!! Today is day 3 of MATS A or Make Art That Sells course A-there is A and B. OMG I am loving this class so much. I have been in bootcamp since Feb, and I am lucky that I am slow workwise, I spent the entire day on this. I researched colors, went to Mood and then I came home and took my old sketch (from Monday) and went over it in Illustrator and played with colors, then I decided to add the bird. The black is just so you can see the swatches, cuz I like this design on white or super light bg. This is so much fun!!  www.lillarogers.com

MATS March Bootcamp Gallery

Yay I am sooo excited to see my work in the MATS Bootcamp gallery. This month was bolt fabric patterns. I created about 10 and chose this one to submit because I ended up falling in love with it. I am also trying to create a pattern style that is very similar to my children's book work. Here is the link to see the whole gallery-I am on the first page, but there is tons of great work. I am brand new to this, so I get inspired every day by all the amazing talent in this group. And yes I signed up for MATS A starting on Monday! http://bootcamp.lillarogers.com/bootcamp-march-2014-gallery/

More on MARCH Bootcamp-PATTERNS

Hi everyone so as you know I am taking what they call Make Art That Sells from Lilla Rogers Studio . I love it.  I am in the bootcamp now-which runs 6 months and on March 31st I am starting the full MATS A course. I can't wait. I love learning new things to do with my art. Here are some sketches that I did this week for the mini assignment. I did them using mixed media-markers, Sketchbook Pro, Painter and just plain pencils. I hope you like them!

More Adventures in MATS Bootcamp - NEW SHOP!!!

This is just one of the items in my new shop!!  I am so excited at how awesome these products look. I started the Making Art That Sells Bootcamp at the beginning of Feb because I wanted to try out and see if Lilla Rogers Studio courses were right for me. Within the first week I took all my bills money and signed up for MATS Part A starting on March 31st!!! And yeah it's been tight financially this month, but creatively I feel like I am flying. This is the first sketch I did for the class. I have been in character animation for many many years, and children's book illustration for a long time as well. I love them both dearly but getting to do, and sell, my own work? What a dream. In October of 2013 I started selling some of my Scottie and Westie drawings on Cafepress because someone asked me if they were for sale.. so I opened a shop on the fly-it started because I was going to be in an art show and I had nothing else ready-anyhow, then in November I got s...

MATS Bootcamp Stuff!!

I am in the 3rd week of the Lilla Rogers Studios MATS Bootcamp.. so here are my cases. Last week I did three mockups, the first three images, well people started requesting to buy the first two-Scotties and Westies----so excited-and overwhelmed-anyhow, so I had to work on the third one for my assignment. Here are the new three. I actually really like these! I hope you do too. I am not sure which one I am handing in yet.  MY SHOP
